Paul Ibe, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has mocked former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose for wrongly linking him to a statement that criticised the former governor’s earlier claims.
Fayose had earlier made a series of allegations over Tuesday’s closed-door meeting Atiku and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had with ex-Military President Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, the capital of Niger State.

Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, later issued a statement condemning Fayose’s claims on the meeting.
Reacting on Thursday, Fayose wrongly linked Ibe to the statement and had issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Atiku Abubakar to publicly disown the statement.
However, Ibe said the controversial statement, titled “Peter Ayodele Fayose’s Beer Parlour Tales of Infamy,” was not written by him but by Shaibu.
Ibe said Fayose failed to distinguish between different members of Atiku’s media team and had wrongly attributed the authorship of the statement to him.
Ibe further mocked Fayose’s demand that Atiku should issue a rebuttal within 48 hours, saying the timeline was unnecessary and exaggerated.
