Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has clinched the African Democratic Congress presidential ticket after a decisive win in the party’s primary.
The returning officer for the ADC presidential primary, Tunde Ogbeha, announced Atiku as the winner on Wednesday night. He said Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to defeat two other aspirants.
Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers State, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, former managing director of the defunct FSB International Bank, were the other contenders in the race.
The result sets Atiku up as ADC’s flagbearer for the next presidential election.
