Former Vice President and the presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the death of former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly called “Mama Taraba”.
Atiku, in short message, on his social media handled said he asked about her condition this afternoon after which he called her number without a response.
“I am grieved by the death of former Minister of Women Affairs, Sen. Aisha Alhassan. I asked about her condition this afternoon after I called her number without a response! Inna lillahi wainna Ilaihi Rajiun! May Allah forgive her sins and grant her Aljannah Fiddausi in this holy month. Ameen,” Atiku said.
He added that the late Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was an accomplished civil servant, astute politician and patriot and will will be sorely missed.
“Mama Taraba as she was popularly known, was an accomplished civil servant, astute politician and patriot. She was compassionate, loyal and deeply committed to a better Nigeria. She will be sorely missed. I really have lost a sister and a loyalist.
“A former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly called “Mama Taraba” is dead,” Atiku added.
News reports said she died on Friday evening in an Egyptian hospital from a protracted illness.
