The Academic Staff Union of Universities has agreed to call of its eight-month strike.
The strike has ruptured academic plans and activities in the public universities.
ASUU leadership reached the consensus with government in Abuja on Friday.
The government team was led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige.
The government also pledged to increase the total payment to the union from N65 billion to N70 billion.
The Federal Government had a week ago accepted the demand by the ASUU that they be exempted from the Integrated Payroll and and Personnel Information System.
