The Nigerian Army has announced that the 12 Brigade, Lokoja, will conduct its first annual Range Classification Exercise from March 30 to April 2.

The Brigade’s spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lokoja.

He said that the exercise would take place at the Chari Maigumeri Shooting Range and is aimed at enhancing the marksmanship and operational readiness of officers and soldiers.

Abdullahi explained that the exercise would also enable the Brigade to assess the serviceability of its weapons in line with standard military requirements.

According to him, the training is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to strengthen its capacity to tackle banditry and other security challenges in the region.

He urged residents of Shettima, Zango and neighbouring communities not to panic at the sound of gunshots or movement of troops during the period.

“Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the range area throughout the duration of the exercise for their safety.

“The Army appeals to residents to help disseminate this information widely, including translating it into local languages to ensure adequate awareness,” he said.
