Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on Youth and Sports, Aremo Adegboyega Adelabu, has appealed to youths in the state to be law abiding and avoid involving in the act that can breach the peace and tranquillity enjoyed by citizens and residents of the state.

Aremo Adelabu stated this on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo following several looting of government and private property across the state by hoodlums even after protesting youths had suspended their agitations.

The Special Adviser who for the umpteenth time said peaceful protest was allowed under the democratic government for people to express their demands frowned at the way the protest was hijacked by hoodlums, leading to wanton looting and destruction of the property of government including the hard-earned assets of politicians, corporate organizations and private entrepreneurs who are major employers of teeming Osun youth.

“I feel sad with the level at which government and private properties are been looted, destructed and vandalized by hoodlums despite several efforts of the state government to make peace reign across the state through dialogue and discussion.

“Even with the presence of security agencies, who have been more civil with genuine protesters and members of the public, some irate youth could be involved in such dastardly act. This is painful and very unfortunate.

“As a government, we will do everything possible to keep the outstanding record of Osun as the most peaceful state in Nigeria by continuing to protect lives and properties of citizens and residents of the state and will not allow any act of lawlessness to hold sway any longer.

“Our advice is for everyone to obey the curfew imposed by the government to calm the situation and for the youth to steer clear of any act culpable of breaching the law and order in the state because whoever is caught with face the full wrath of the law,” Aremo Adelabu stated.
