APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has warned aspirants to maintain discipline and avoid violence ahead of the party’s primary elections, saying offenders will face suspension and other sanctions.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda told aspirants screened for the 2027 elections that the party was committed to transparent, credible and peaceful primaries to strengthen internal democracy.
He said the APC would not tolerate violence, unrest, anti-party activities, or any attempt to undermine the process. “Any aspirant or supporter found instigating violence or sponsoring unrest will face severe disciplinary measures, including immediate suspension,” he said.
Yilwatda urged aspirants to show maturity and accept outcomes in the interest of the party and democracy. “In every democratic contest, only one person will emerge victorious. What matters is the spirit of the process,” he said.
He called on aspirants to act as ambassadors of the APC and align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, warning against actions that could divide the party or undermine progress.
The chairman credited the Tinubu administration with bold reforms aimed at building a $1 trillion economy through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, digital innovation, and SMEs. He cited road and rail projects, port rehabilitation, power investments, and support for farmers and small businesses as evidence of progress.
Yilwatda urged party members to remain united and mobilise for Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, saying the administration’s record provides a strong case for continuity.
