The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it was set to appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court which nullified the nomination of its 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Aisha Binani, on Friday.
Dr Raymond Chidama, the party secretary, made the position of the party known on Saturday while addressing newsmen on the court judgment.
Chidama said the party rejected, in totality, the court decision to bar the party from fielding a candidate in the 2023 governorship election.
He urged the party’s supporters to remain calm, assuring that it was still strong enough to win the gubernatorial position of the state, despite its challenges.
The party lauded the court judgment for identifying the party’s loopholes during the conduct of its primary.
Mr Idris Shuaibu, the party’s legal adviser, expressed hope that the verdict would be reversed by the appeal court.
The Federal High Court I presided over by Justice A.M Anka on Friday nullified the APC primary election which produced the senator representing Adamawa Central, Aishatu Binani, as its governorship candidate on grounds of irregularities.
Justice Anka said the party had no candidate for the 2023 election in the state for now.
