The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has denied allegations that the recent disturbance at its state secretariat in Akure is linked to the forthcoming party congress, attributing the incident to internal misunderstandings and “unscrupulous elements”.
In a statement, the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, described the incident as isolated and emphasised that it does not reflect the party’s values.
The APC has launched an internal review to investigate the matter and assured that appropriate measures will be taken based on findings.
The party commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for swiftly deploying security personnel to restore order, ensuring calm was restored at the secretariat.
The APC Ondo State Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, transparent, and credible congress, urging members to disregard “unfounded narratives” aimed at creating tension.
