“Personally, I am here to monitor the process, while the electoral committee is saddled with the responsibility of conducting the National Assembly election.

“They are here to observe, certify, and append their signatures to what the good people of Ikorodu are doing,” he said.

The APC chairman expressed satisfaction with reports from the constituency, praising members for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise.

Also speaking, the chairman of the electoral committee, Saliu Shehu, lauded party faithful in Ikorodu for maintaining peace and discipline during the primary election.

Shehu described the constituency as one of the most peaceful visits by the committee and assured members that the exercise would strictly follow party guidelines and electoral laws.

“We are here on a fact-finding mission, and we are impressed with what we saw. The exercise will be conducted in line with party guidelines and electoral laws,” he said.

Reacting to his victory, Benson described the primary as peaceful, transparent, and successful, noting that more than 60,000 party members participated in the exercise.

According to him, the turnout reflected the growing strength and mobilisation capacity of the APC in Ikorodu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The strong participation witnessed during the primaries will further boost voter turnout in future elections.

“The party will continue to engage members and intensify grassroots mobilisation after the primaries to strengthen unity and participation ahead of 2027,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Jimoh Tijani, APC Local Government Area Chairman in Ikorodu, commended party members for their peaceful conduct during the direct primary election.

Tijani described the exercise as smooth, transparent, and violence-free, adding that the overwhelming votes secured by Benson demonstrated members’ confidence in his leadership and performance.

He urged party members, aspirants, and supporters to remain united after the primaries and work collectively for the success of the APC in future elections.

“We had two aspirants. Benson scored above 60,000 votes, while the other aspirant scored below 5,000 votes,” he said.
