A chieftain of the Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, identified as Godwin Aigbogun, has reportedly escaped from the captivity of his abductors.
Godwin Aigbogun is the Chairman of the APC in Ward 9, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo state.
The APC chieftain was abducted by the kidnappers on his way back to the community from his farm in Ologbonugu on Monday evening according to a report by GWG.
After his abduction, the gunmen suspected to be herdsmen demanded N5 million ransom from his family for his release on Tuesday.
But he reportedly escaped in a yet-to-be disclosed manner.
Confirming Aigbogun’s escape, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae, said that the APC stalwart had since rejoined his family.
Uwadiae commended Aigbogun for his bravery, adding that the APC family in the state was happy about this development.
“I can confirm to you that he has escaped from the kidnappers’ den. I don’t know how he did it but I must commend him for his bravery. The APC family in the state is happy about this. He is now with the family,” he said.
