A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress [APC] in Lagos State, Chief Akinwunmi Bayode, haz faulted Ondo Statd Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s recent action of suspending the recently constituted Local Government/Local Council Development Authority [LG/LCDA] committees put in place by the immediate past Governor of Ondo State, the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Akinwunmi said the state governor’s action showed that the new governor had yet to come to terms with the intrigues and compass of politics in Ondo State.
According to him: “It shows the Governor is being teleguided by very wrong advisors. How can you suspend the structures put in place by your immediate predecessor and benefactor in less than one week to his death and now attract more enemies to yourself in inview of past happenings even when the man have not been burried, and as if you already had a premonition of his death?
“What this means is that those cabinet members who resigned immediately after Akeredolu’s death knew you were coming for vengeance,l. Therefore, it shows they’re smart to call your bluff.
“The feelers we got after Aiyedatiwa met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos during the yuletide holiday was to go and unite all the aggrieved forces in the party in Ondo State before any decision to choose his deputy.
“Instead of Aiyedatiwa to toe this line of honour, he created more acrimony and further disharmony in the body politic of the state.
“The former Deputy Governor who was saved from a calculated impeachment by same President Tinubu is now like a demigod onto himself, suspending an entire 18 LG caretaker members nd 33 LCDA caretaker committees after their recent creation nd inauguration.
“The Governor has suddenly forgotten that a majority of this committee members have up to about 50 to 60 percent direct influence on delegates that would constitute the bulk of voters if not delegates themselves at the upcoming APC gubernatorial primaries in April 2024, despite having his eyes on the party ticket.
“The decoy of using the PDP court restraining order that was appealed and stay of execution order obtained cannot be the only reason for this suspension. An alteriour motive must be attached.
“The question begging for answer is who is Aiyedatiwa working for between the two political parties PDP or APC T
that would warrant him using the order of court, that a stay of execution order has been granted by another superior court of competent jurisdiction.
“This clearly shows that the Governor is indeed a green horn in the politics of Ondo State, despite the Calibre of heavyweights he has to contend with in the April 2024 Governorship primaries.
“As one of those who advocated against his unwarranted impeachment attempt, the shadow that is still hunting him, it would be appropriate to advise him that this suspension is unnecessary, ill-timed and would only succeed in creating more opposition to his candidature and more enemies for his ambition to be elected as Governor later in the year.
“There is already an antecedent on LG, LCDA creation using Lagos as a case study when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the then Governor of Lagos State created 37 LCDA in addition to the existing 20 LG in Lagos against a rebellious President Olusegun Obasanjo’s directive not to do it.
“If he must achieve something meaningful going forward, he must quickly reverse himself make provisions as take-off grants for the LG/LCDA and immediately visit all of them reconcile all aggrieved members for harmony of purpose, with a promise to carry everybody along in his new administration after Akeredolu’s befitting State burial, only then can he Aiyedatiwa be trusted.”
