The United States Embassy has confirmed that the two U.S. Mission employees who had been reported missing following the May 16 attack in Anambra state are alive and secure.
They are being protected by Nigerian authorities within Anambra state.
In an official statement released on Friday, the Embassy has taken the necessary steps to inform the families of the employees about their safe recovery.
Plans are underway for U.S. Mission personnel to travel to Anambra and accompany the employees back home.
Furthermore, the statement emphasized the Embassy’s ongoing collaboration with Nigerian security and law enforcement agencies to address this situation.
Their collective efforts aim to identify the victims previously discovered and ensure that those responsible for the atrocious attack face justice.
The Embassy encouraged the public to provide any relevant information they may possess.
Expressing gratitude for the partnership and solidarity exhibited by the Nigerian government, as well as Nigerian security and law enforcement colleagues, the statement conveyed condolences for the lives lost during the attack.
