Let me first congratulate the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Governor Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke, on the victory recorded in the governorship election petition at the Supreme Court, Abuja. The victory indicates acceptance by the people of Osun State.
Your Excellency, since you took over the management of both human and material resources in Osun State as the executive governor of the state, you have proven your opponent wrong by proving that you are truly the governor of the people and for the people, which shows that welfare of the inhabitants of Osun State is a priority for your administration.
I am also commending you for the unparalleled infrastructural projects and economic recovery that your government has embarked upon since you assumed office on November 27th, 2022.
The reading public, including citizens of Osun State as well as non-occupants of Osun State, can openly testify without fear or favor to the good work you have been doing.
Your Excellency, sir, the Obaagun community today has roads built by the late Uncle Bola Ige, which have not received any favorable attention from the successful government in the state.
This open letter is important to draw your attention to the plight of the silent people of Obaagun, who feel they have been neglected and treated unfairly in the fair award of road construction in Osun State, specifically in Ifelodun Local Government, since 1999 to date.
They have been wondering what could have been the offenses that made the successful government treat them as though they were not captured on the map of Osun State in the area of road construction.
Excellency, it should be aware that the people of Obaagun view that the several roads within the Ifelodun Local Government have been either repaired or total reconstructed, while it seems that the previous government overlooked the people of Obaagun in the area of road repair and construction, which led to what I can call a protest vote against the last administration.
I, therefore, appeal to your administration to come to our aid, especially on the township road construction, which has been a death trap for the users. It is disheartening to inform you that pregnant mothers plying the road have had bad experiences getting to the hospital for medical attention.
Excellency sir, with due respect and a heart full of pain and grievance, I want to let you know that the good people of Obaagun are suffering from untold hardship as a result of this dilapidated state of the road, which is no longer motorable except for “the okadas,” and we are raising our voice loudly. As a result of the dilapidated road, the community has lost access to the Iba community, and very soon we will be experiencing a fall in the bridges linking one street to another within the community if urgent attention is not given to this clarion call.
The people of Obaagun expect that your administration will be different in giving them their dues, which motivated them to vote for you during the last governorship election and can be verified.
As you pay attention to the good people of the Obaagun community, may Almighty continue to endow you with the needed resources to affect positively changes the lives of the people of Obaagun so that by the time you leave office, you will have left your name in the gold record of Obaagun by doing what they thought could not be possible.
By Jimih Wale Atoba, Ph.D. National Treasurer, Obaagun Development Union.
