Akwa Ibom State Chair of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Udo Ekpenyong, is dead.
He reportedly died from COVID-19 complications on Monday.
The late Ekpenyong was, before his election as the state PDP chair last year, the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state.
He was reputed to be a strong ally of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
His death came on the heels of the death on December 24, 2020 of a former military governor of the state, Idongesit Nkanga, who also died from COVID-19 complications.
