Senate President Godswill Akpabio has thanked first lady Remi Tinubu for attending his 61st birthday celebration in Akwa Ibom.
Mrs Tinubu joined several dignitaries on Saturday in celebrating Akpabio at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Remi Tinubu had acknowledged Akpabio’s contributions to good governance across levels in Nigeria.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Akpabio thanked President Bola Tinubu’s wife, federal lawmakers, and everyone who attended his birthday celebration.
He wrote, “Yesterday, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, my colleagues in the National Assembly and their wives, governors, the SGF, traditional rulers, friends and associates, all gathered in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, to celebrate my 61st birthday anniversary, inside the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. Thanks for coming. I Love you all.”
Mrs Tinubu said the event was not only for celebration and merriment, but to reflect on the immense contributions Akpabio had made across offices as former governor of Akwa Ibom, senator, minister and now Senate President.
She noted that the Senate President had not only shown exemplary leadership, which engenders principles of democracy and accountability, but also promotes the interest of many Nigerians, especially the vulnerable in the society.
“Senator Akpabio has continued to serve our nation diligently in the Senate. As the Senate President, he has displayed exemplary leadership, fostered unity and promoted the interest of many Nigerians, he is committed to principles of democracy, accountability and good governance,” the first lady said.
