A two-time legislator who represented Ondo East and West Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Iranola Akinlaja, has commiserated with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on the demise of the Secretary to Ondo State Government, Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who died on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Oluwatuyi, was involved in a fatal road accident on Ife-Ibadan Road on December 19, 2024, and subsequently died of the injuries on Saturday, January 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Akinlaja, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress who served as Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream at the National Assembly also commiserated with the family of the late SSG in Akure, friends, and associates during this difficult time as well as members of the Governor Aiyedatiwa’s cabinet, describing Oluwatuyi’s death as saddening and devastating.
Akinlaja, in a condolence message from the United Kingdom, on Sunday, described Oluwatuyi’s death as a great tragedy and a monumental loss to Ondo State and Nigeria at a very critical period.
He added that the astute politician would be sorely missed by the State Government, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the State Executive Council and other bodies he served as member in his capacity as SSG.
Akinlaja further described Oluwatuyi as a committed patriot and altruistic servant who dedicated his life to the service of his fatherland both in the private and public sectors.
According to him, the late SSG was a go-getter who delivered on any assignment committed to his hands because of his belief that service should always come first.
While noting that Oluwatuyi died while on active service, he stressed that he would be greatly missed in the affairs of governance of Ondo State, both administratively and politically.
Akinlaja said: “While Ondo State and other parts of Nigeria are mourning the death of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, I equally join them to commiserate with the immediate family of the deceased on this very huge loss.
“I, as well, commiserate with His Excellency, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on the loss of a dependable ally and a loyal aide. May the Almighty God grant the family, friends, and associates as well as members of the Governor’s cabinet fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
