In a bid to avert the political landmines which have blown away the second term ambition of some of his colleagues,

Ondo state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, says he has received President Muhammadu Buhari’s blessing for his re-election bid.

This development may have forestalled any possible landmines that opposition elements in the party may have planned to detonate in his path.

Such landmines had blown up the second term ambition of former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to smithereens.

The latest governor is Godwin Obaseki of Edo State who had already lost the opportunity to contest for a second term in office on the platform of APC, the party that fielded him in 2016.

He too was in the Presidential Villa before Akeredolu to intimate President Muhammadu Buhari on his next move after his disqualification.

Gov. Akeredolu popularly called “Aketi” by his followers,
emerged from a meeting with the President at the State House, Abuja on Tuesday, boasting his preparedness for the APC’s ho governorship primary election in Ondo State.

He said he did not care whether the party adopted direct or indirect primary election.

Gov. Akeredolu expressed confidence that the people of Ondo state would return him to office because of his record of achievements in the last three and a half years.
