Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, has declined the request by the Police for interrogation on Tuesday (today).
Ajaero has instead scheduled an alternative date for Wednesday, August 29.
Ajaero’s lawyers, Falana and Falana Chambers, communicated this decision to the Inspector General of Police in a letter.
The police had summoned Ajaero for alleged criminal offences, including conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
Ajaero’s legal team had requested detailed information about the specific allegations against him.
Parts of the letter, signed by Samuel Ogala, read: “Therefore, Ajaero is prepared for your interview on Wednesday, August 29, 2024.
“Furthermore, in accordance with the provisions of Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as altered, Ajaero requests for the details and nature of the allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime levelled against him.
“While awaiting your response to this letter, please accept the assurance[s] of our highest esteem.”
