[Press Release] The press statement by the Concerned Public Servants (COPS) accusing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of deceiving civil servants with the promised minimum wage increment is unfounded and misleading.
The governor has consistently demonstrated his commitment to workers’ welfare, paying backlog of leave arrears, pensions, and gratuity before even considering contesting the governorship election.
The N73,000 minimum wage announcement is genuine, and necessary arrangements are in place for its implementation.
This increase aims to alleviate the current economic situation and will be adjusted as needed, aligning with the state’s financial buoyancy.
Contrary to COPS’ claims, Governor Aiyedatiwa has:
• Employed 2,000 teachers in the last ten months
• Ensured regular promotions and training for workers
• Given out over N2 billion soft loans to traders, artisans, and others
• Prioritized vulnerable people, youths, and women empowerment.
These actions demonstrate his dedication to workers’ development, earning him the reputation as a “workers-friendly governor.”
It’s crucial to recognize that this is an election period, and faceless groups may attempt to tarnish Governor Aiyedatiwa’s good work. We must protect civil servants from political interference and maintain neutrality. The opposition party’s sole agenda is to attack the governor and APC, which must stop.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s words are his bond, and he will not renege on his promises. The immediate implementation of the wage increment has begun, and things can only get better for public servants in Ondo State.
