The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF’s) commitment to upholding and protecting Nigeria’s democratic institutions, values, and principles.

Describing them as the bedrocks of the nation, he emphasized the constitutional duty of the NAF and other military services to safeguard these pillars of democracy.

According to Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal, Edward Gabkwet, Air Marshal Abubakar made these remarks on Saturday, August 10, 2024, during a meeting with the Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya.

He acknowledged that while state governors bore the primary responsibility for security, the Armed Forces remained steadfast partners in ensuring the protection of citizens’ freedoms and the rule of law.

He praised Gombe State’s consistent top ranking in ease of doing business in Nigeria for two consecutive years.

Addressing recent unrest in the state, Air Marshal Abubakar disclosed that the NAF had deployed an aircraft for reconnaissance and mobilized Regiment Forces to assist in quelling the violence that followed a protest hijacked by disruptive elements.

Governor Yahaya, in his response, expressed appreciation for the NAF’s swift actions during the crisis and assured the CAS of his administration’s support in enhancing the infrastructure of the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group to bolster their operational effectiveness.

The meeting underscored the ongoing collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and state authorities in ensuring peace and security across the nation.
