The Amnesty International (AI) has blamed the regime of Bola Tinubu for inflicting hunger and hardship on citizens, reason they die at food stampedes.
The human rights body said the deaths of the 65 victims at three incidents where free foods were shared to poor citizens were as a result of widespread hunger, high unemployment and rapid falling standard of living caused by the Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement on Saturday in its reaction to the three incidents that occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, FCT Abuja and Okija in Anambra State within one week, AI lamented the fact that millions of Nigerians are on the brink of starvation in the country.
The organisation said, “This week 65 people died across Nigeria at rice sharing stampedes: Ibadan 35 children died, Okija 20 people died, Abuja 10 people died.
“Millions of people are on the brink of starvation, widespread malnutrition and deep poverty. President Bola Tinubu’s government must urgently prioritise addressing widespread hunger, higher unemployment and the rapidly falling standard of living.”
