Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, legal counsel to Senator Godswill Akpabio has issued a second formal letter to suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging her to retract what he described as a “clearly false and unsubstantiated” allegation of sexual harassment against the Senate President.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Agbakoba, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), criticiaed the senator representing Kogi Central for failing to address key inconsistencies in her allegation, as outlined in a prior letter dated April 14, 2025.

He noted that Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment on December 8, 2023, yet publicly praised him on social media the following day, December 9.

Rather than explaining this contradiction, she reportedly deleted the post, which Agbakoba said raised further concerns.

In the new letter dated April 22, 2025, Agbakoba wrote on behalf of his law firm, Olisa Agbakoba Legal (AOL): “You have failed to clarify your sexual harassment allegation on December 8, 2023, and your exaltation of Senator Akpabio on social media the next day. Deleting the post, instead of offering clarification, is troubling.”

He further questioned the delay in making the allegation public, pointing out that Akpoti-Uduaghan only came forward with her claims on February 28, 2025 — more than 14 months after the alleged incident.

Agbakoba also highlighted the senator’s continued public appearances alongside Akpabio throughout 2024, including shared moments during the Inter-Parliamentary Union session in Geneva in March 2024, where the two were photographed together and featured in seemingly cordial social media posts.

“These interactions, portrayed in a friendly tone and posted online, severely undermine the credibility of your claims,” the letter stated.

“Given your failure to clarify these inconsistencies, we now demand that you retract the sexual harassment allegations, which we maintain are baseless and without evidence,” Agbakoba said.
