Mr Matthias Schmale presided over the Steering Committee Meeting of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, to review progress against current cooperative framework and endorse new programme areas for the United Nations in Nigeria for 2023 – 2027.

The Steering Committee of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework reviewed progress against current cooperative framework and endorsed new programme areas for the United Nations in Nigeria for 2023 – 2027.

Presentations made to the Steering Committee on the progress of the current Cooperation Framework (2018-2022) showed accomplishments of UN support to Nigeria in areas including good governance and rule of law; humanitarian response; basic social services; health and nutrition; education; water and sanitation; economic growth; and environmental sustainability.

At the meeting, United Nations’ agencies in Nigeria accepted jointly owned transformative initiatives that would promote change and development in the country and aligned their interventions with the National Development Plan 2021-2025 to achieve the SDGs.
