Immediate past Minister of Budget and Nationa Planning and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Prince Clem Agba CON, has commiserated with the Medical Director of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin City, Dr Philip Ugbodaga, on his mother’s dead.
In a letter to Dr Ugbodaga, dated 10 November 2025, and entitled: “Condolences”, Prince Agba prayed for the Ugbodaga family, that God would grant them the peace and fortitude to bear this profound loss.
The letter reads in extenso: “I have received your letter conveying the painful news of the passing of your beloved mother, Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aniso Ugbodaga, and my heart goes out to you. Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences.
“News of her transition brings sadness, yet it also stirs gratitude for the precious gift of her long, remarkable, and inspiring life of 102 years. The picture you painted of her in your letter moved me deeply. A devoted mother, a pillar in her community, and your steady anchor since your father’s passing 41 years ago, she clearly lived a life that radiated grace, strength, and wisdom. The image of a lotus flower blooming from mud, which you used, beautifully captures the depth of her love and the nurturing spirit that shaped the course of your life.
“It is touching to sense, through your words, the closeness you shared with her as her last child. That bond of love and mutual devotion is one that time cannot erase. Her legacy shines not only in the longevity she enjoyed but also in the values she instilled in her children, especially you and your distinguished brother, Dr Peter Ugbodaga. That enduring legacy is a lasting proof of a life well lived, a mother’s work fulfilled, and indeed the true measure of a successful life.
“Please know that my family and I stand with you and the entire Ugbodaga family at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you celebrate her memory and draw strength from the many lives she touched. May God comfort you and grant you the peace and fortitude to bear this profound loss.
“I am truly honoured by your kind invitation to the burial ceremony on 6 December 2025 and deeply regret that I will be unable to attend, as the date coincides with our Church’s annual convention where I have several roles to play. I had hoped to be there in person to pay my respects, but please be assured that my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family throughout the ceremony.
“Please accept once again the assurances of my highest esteem and deepest sympathy.”
