AFCON 2023: Cote d’Ivoire dump out defending Champion, Senegal 5-4 via spot kicks

Cote d’Ivoire have qualified for the Quarter-finals of the Africa Nations Cup 2023 after defeating defending champion, Senegal.

After playing 1-1 at regulation time, Ivory Coast defeated Senegal 5-4 on Penalties.

Franck Kessie’s decisive kick helped the Elephants seal their place for the quarter-finals after Mousaa Niakhate missed his kick for Senegal.

Senegal took the lead after only four minutes of the match through Habib Diallo’s volley from a cross by Mane.

Ivory Coast took possession of the game and equalised in the 86 minutes via penalty spot after Mendy fouled Pepe.
