Prominent Nigerians are expected to converge on the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre [Atiku Abubakar Auditorium], in Central Business District, Abuja, by 12 pm, on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 to honour an astute labour leader and politician, Hon. [Comrade] Joseph Iranola Akinlaja.
Hon Akinlaja will publicly present and lauch his autobiography entitled: “LABOUR, POLITICS & GRACE” under the chairmanship of Hon. Minister of State for Niger Delta, Senator Omotayo Alasoadura.
The book launch, which is strictly by invitation, is coinciding with Hon. Akinlaja’s 71st birthday and would be conducted under strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
According to a copy of the invitation, Chief Mike Adenuga [GCON] is the chief launcher of the book.
The event is expected to be attended by the Speaker of House of Reps, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Governors of Ekiti and Ogun States, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Dr Ayo Fayose; all principal officers of the Senate and House of Reps at the National Assembly as well as Senators and Members of House of Reps from the Southwest region.
Similarly a chieftain of Zenith Labour Party and former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and former Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, would also be in attendance.
Oshiomhole was the NLC President as of the time Hon Akinlaja held sway as (his) Deputy President.
Others are NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, Dr Dakuku Peterside, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Senator Ifeanyi Uba, Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, former Governor of Lagos State and a serving Minister, Babatunde Raji-Fashola, Dr Olumide Ayeni [SAN], Chief Wole Olanipekun [SAN], Dr Eyitato Jegede [SAN], Dayo Akinlaja [SAN], Chief Ifedayo Adedipe [SAN], Oba Otudeko and Femi Otedola.
Labour leaders who have also been invited included the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and the General Secretary [Acting] Comrade Ismail Bello; TUC President Comrade Quadri Olaleye and the General Secretary, Comrade Musa Lawal.
The high profile list of invitees also has on it the President of NUPENG and the General Secretary, Comrade Williams Akporeha and Comrade Olawale Afolabi; PENGASSAN President and the General Secretary, Comrade Festus Osifo and Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa.
Also, a former President of NUPENG, Comrade Peter Akpatason as well as the National Chairman of PTD Branch of NUPENG, Comrade [Otunba] Salimon Akanni Oladiti [JP].
His Royal Majesty, Oba Adesimbo Victor Kiladejo [Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom] also features as one of the eminent royal fathers that will grace the day alongside the helmsman of FRSC, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi and other critical stakeholders in the Nigeria’s oil and gas industry as well as principal actors in the political and socio-economic sectors of Nigeria.
