Adeleke endorses Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, cites federal projects in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has publicly backed President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, calling it a “moral and development-driven” decision for Osun and the Yoruba people.

Speaking Monday after inspecting work on the Ibadan-Ile Ife-Ilesa expressway, Adeleke said he had no hesitation supporting Tinubu, whom he described as “our own son, father and leader.”

“As governor of the ancestral birthplace of Mr President, how can I have my own in the saddle and think twice before embracing him?” he asked.

Adeleke said the endorsement goes beyond party lines and is rooted in federal infrastructure projects in the state. He praised the speed and quality of work on the expressway and said it would improve access to major towns in Osun.

He added that his administration has rehabilitated several federal roads since 2022 and reconstructed over 300km of state roads, and hopes for federal refunds on the repairs. He also commended Tinubu for approving the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo and Gbongan-Akoda roads and pledged to seek approval for the Osogbo-Ilesa road.

On the August 15 polls, Adeleke said his government would ensure free and fair elections, adding that “the President has repeatedly advocated free and fair elections” and “meant well for Osun state.”
