ADC takes bold step towards party reforms as Mark inaugurates Constitution Review Committee

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its internal democracy and governance structures with the inauguration of a Constitution Review Committee.

The committee, which was inaugurated by the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, is tasked with reviewing the party’s constitution and identifying areas that require amendment, clarification, or updating.

In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, Senator Mark emphasised the importance of the committee’s work, stating that it was not about changing principles, but about strengthening them.

He urged the committee members to approach their assignment with open minds, broad consultations, and an unwavering commitment to the collective interest of the party.

The committee’s terms of reference include:

<span;><span;>- Aligning the revised constitution with global best practices in democratic governance and party administration

<span;><span;>- Strengthening provisions that promote inclusiveness, transparency, and fair participation of all members

<span;><span;>- Reviewing the roles, powers, and relationships of party organs at all levels

<span;><span;>- Ensuring fairness and credibility in party primaries, congresses, dispute resolution, discipline, and sanctions

Senator Mark charged the committee members to discharge their responsibility with diligence, patriotism, and wisdom, and to produce a constitution that strengthens internal democracy, enhances discipline, and guarantees transparency in party affairs.

The inauguration of the Constitution Review Committee marks a significant milestone in the ADC’s journey towards building a strong, democratic, and inclusive party.
