A popular activist and Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF), Comrade Abiodun Aremu, is dead.
He was killed on Sunday evening by a hit-and-run driver.
The incident happened around 6 pm in Ota, Ogun State, while he was crossing the road.
The driver fled the scene immediately after knocking him down.
Aremu was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel battled to save his life, but was later confirmed dead.
The tragedy has plunged Nigeria’s human rights community into mourning.
