Abuja Woman, Jane Apollos, Needs N6m For Life-Saving Intestinal Surgery After Cancer Battle

A young Nigerian woman, Jane Apollos, is appealing to Nigerians and corporate organisations for urgent financial support to raise N6 million for a colostomy reversal and intestinal reconstruction surgery that doctors say is critical to restoring her health.

Jane’s ordeal began in June 2025 when complications from a severe stomach ulcer led to massive internal bleeding and a perforated intestine.

Medical examinations later revealed a tumour in her colon, which was diagnosed as Adenocarcinoma — a form of colon cancer.

—From Emergency Surgery To Stability—

According to her medical team, the perforation caused fecal leakage that resulted in fecal peritonitis. Jane subsequently developed severe sepsis and was rushed in for emergency surgery.

To save her life, doctors performed a colostomy and had to excise her entire large intestine and caecum due to extensive lacerations and the presence of cancerous cells.

Her representative told THE CONCLAVE that the surgery was the only option at the time.

“Jane has fought so hard to get to this point,” the representative said. “The cancer, the sepsis and all related complications have now been cleared according to her doctors. She is stable.”

—The Next Step: N6m Surgery To Restore Normal Function–

Doctors have now recommended the next phase of treatment: Total Proctocolectomy with Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis (IPAA), also known as J-Pouch Surgery.

The procedure is aimed at reversing the colostomy and reconstructing her intestinal tract to restore normal bowel function.

The total cost for the surgery, hospitalisation, medications and post-operative care has been put at N6,000,000.

Her family says they are unable to raise the amount alone and are calling on well-meaning Nigerians, humanitarian organisations and corporate bodies to help.
