It was gathered that a high-level meeting convened at Kwari Village Primary School in Jibia Local Government Area saw stakeholders engage in peace talks with the armed group.

Following the agreement, the bandits agreed to lay down their arms, signalling a commitment to ending hostilities in the region.

It was also learnt that the gang handed over two AK-47 rifles to the military and unconditionally freed ten hostages, who were promptly taken to a general hospital for medical evaluation.

The repentant bandits pledged to release more captives and vowed to cease attacks on communities within the area. [With Newspot report]
