Abducted Ondo travellers regain freedom after payment of N12m ransom

The three indigenes of Ikaram Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State who were kidnapped by some gunmen in Ayere in Kogi State have been released.

The victims who were traveling from Abuja to attend a birthday ceremony in their hometown in Ondo State, were kidnapped on Ayere-Kabba Road in Kogi State last week.

Reports said that the victims regained their freedom after payment of N12 million ransom.

“Their families paid N12million ransom to secure the safe release of the abductees after a series of negotiations,” a source was quoted to have stated in a report by The Punch.

When contacted on the development, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, however, saod she was not aware of the incident.

“I am not aware of such an incident; it did not happen in our jurisdiction,” the PPRO said. (The Punch)
