Abducted native doctor freed as police speak on N300m ransom

A popular native doctor, Chukwudozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki, who was recently abducted by gunmen in Anambra State, has regained freedom.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed Nwangwu’s release on Saturday, disclosed that the popular native doctor was released by his abductors in the early hours of Saturday.

Nwangwu was kidnapped at about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at Oba in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ikenga said the kidnappers contacted Nwangwu’s friends and relatives and demanded N300 million.

He added: “I have information that they have not paid. I also have information that he has been released by his abductors and we are making efforts to get information behind what happened.”
