Former Senator for Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has emerged as Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His confirmation came Saturday, May 31, 2026, from the national leadership of the party in Abuja, barely a week after he was screened at LP’s national headquarters.
—“Congratulate me in advance”—
With the ticket secured, Abbo will now face candidates from APC, Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and other parties in what is expected to be a highly competitive race across Adamawa’s 21 LGAs.
In his acceptance remarks, Abbo pledged to prioritize economic revitalization, youth empowerment, infrastructure development and improved service delivery.
He also called for inclusive governance focused on job creation, education, healthcare and security for residents.
Abbo doubled down on his ambition in a Facebook post: “By this time next year, 29th May 2027, I will be sworn in as Governor of Adamawa State. Congratulate me in advance.”
