Veteran writer and columnist Dele Olowu has commended the Urhobo Leadership Forum Abuja, ULFA, for raising the profile of Urhobos in the Federal Capital Territory and for pursuing influence “with an increasing sense of community” rather than hostility.
In a congratulatory message issued in Abuja, Olowu saluted the forum as it reviewed its performance and moved to strengthen its leadership mandate.
He noted that ULFA had delivered “increased visibility and presence for the Urhobos in the last two years,” describing the shift as a “new sense of power and presence” that was crafted without antagonism toward neighbors.
“This is a great advance for which I congratulate the ULFA fulsomely,” Olowu wrote. “I can only hope that other ethnic entities would borrow a leaf from this worthy example and that Nigeria would be the better for it.”

The columnist singled out the forum’s chairman, Olorogun Peter Igho, and his cabinet for commendation, crediting them with the “lift-off” ULFA has enjoyed. He wished the forum “more blessings in the years ahead.”
Olowu’s message positions ULFA as a template for ethnic advocacy rooted in cooperation. By tying visibility to community-building, he argued, the forum offers a path other groups could emulate to strengthen national cohesion.
The Urhobo Leadership Forum Abuja is a socio-cultural body of Urhobo indigenes in the FCT, focused on welfare, representation, and engagement with host communities.
