Love him or hate him, he was the mainstay of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State and when his
tenure ended, I knew PDP would naturally nosedive.
He is loyal to friendship but never forgives any act of disloyalty. He has the balls, audacity and above all, the political sagacity to weather any storm. He is a man of means who cannot easily be influenced by filthy lucre, money, any amount of money. He has seen it all. (Welcome to the world of Chief Dan Isi Orbih, the Oduma of Africa).
Some of us simply saw tomorrow. We knew that Governor Godwin Obaseki could not possibly survive his self-inflicted injuries in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP would naturally be his option B.
We knew Obaseki wouldn’t have the balls to go anywhere else, being a man who enjoys reaping where he did not sow.
You may wish to underrate Honourable Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama at your peril. For the short time I got to know this young man, i realised that he is a very disciplined and determined young man who does not depend on politics to survive. He is surrounded by very seasoned politicians of the old stock whose integrity cannot be compromised. They were carefully selected for this very kind of scenario. Some of them are Chief Pascal Ugbome (aka Ominimini), Hon. Abas Momoh Jega and a host of others.
To be sure, for Obaseki to survive the gathering storm in PDP will require more than just money.
“A dog that kills a bird in a hunting expedition is no longer a Kid.” Regie(Omoregie), as he is popularly called, is not a kid.
Win him over, win Dan Orbih over and you might stand a chance; otherwise, forget it and go to APGA. If Dan Orbih wanted to be the PDP National Chairman in the last convention, it would have been a piece of cake. All the PDP Chairmen in Nigeria were willing to rally round him but for his respect and loyalty to his friend, Wike, but he resisted the temptation.
Chief Dan Orbih is one man I owe apologies for leaving PDP when i did. I simply, like others, saw tomorrow. My apologies Kulukulu1 of Africa. I hope you can forgive me one day.
I remain eternally grateful for your mentorship and hope we can meet again to take stock after September 19.
I have decided to support Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who you labored for in 2016 and hope he wins and the two of you can come back together to move Edo State forward just as you envisaged in 2016.
I remain,
Yours sincerely
