9th Summit of African First ladies peace mission holds in Abuja

Nigeria First Lady, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has convened the 9th General Assembly of the African First Ladies’ Peace Mission for Monday, 22nd November 2021, in Abuja.

The African First Ladies’ Peace Mission was established in 1997 as an umbrella body of wives of African Heads of State/Presidents and Government to play a supportive role to the African Union, regional organizations, and national governments in fostering peace and reducing conflicts and their effects on the African continent.

Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the First Lady, Aliyu Abdullahi, said the events would include 5th Executive Bureau Meeting for Executive members at 10.00 am.

Abdullahi said the 9th General Assembly would be preceded by a formal opening ceremony, to be attended by all delegates and other guests at 11.00 am.

He added that there would be foundation-laying ceremony of the Permanent Secretariat of AFLPM to be attended by all First Ladies and guests at 1.00 pm, and Fund-raising Dinner to be attended by First Ladies, captains of industry, and Development Partners to raise funds for the development of the Mission Secretariat at 7.00 pm.

He said the events would be attended strictly on invitation.
