A 59-year-old man, Olaniyi Joseph, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.
The arrest of the suspect was effected by operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ifo Police Division.
Joseph was said to have been tracked and arrested by the Division’s DPO.
According to available information, the 14-year-old resides near the Shoyombo area of Ifo, with the act allegedly committed on January 31, 2024.
According to the father of the victim, who reported to the station, he discovered the incident when he could not find his daughter, whom he had instructed to sweep the compound of his house.
She was later seen coming from the suspect’s house.
Upon receipt of the report, detectives visited the scene of the crime.
The suspect was arrested and the victim was taken to the State Hospital in Ifo for medical examination and treatment.
A medical report was also obtained.
Preliminary investigation is currently ongoing.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, for discreet investigation upon the conclusion of the preliminary investigation. [Eagle Online]
