A 53-year-old man, Jeremiah Egbebe, was on Friday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing goods worth ₦7 million.

Egbebe, whose address was not disclosed, is facing two counts of stealing and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere told the court that the incident occurred on February 7 at about 2:00 a.m. in the Jibowu area of Lagos. She alleged that Egbebe stole packages containing jewellery, hair extensions, and shoes belonging to Mr. Matthias Apeh, all valued at ₦7 million.
Ikhayere added that the defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The offences, she said, contravene Sections 168(1)(d) and 281(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted Egbebe bail in the sum of ₦300,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until September 16 for further hearing.
