A 35-year-old suspected thief was brutally beaten by a mob, on Wednesday, in Okumagba Area of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State for allegedly stealing a keyboard belonging to a church (name withheld).
The mob, after beating him, put a motor tyre on his neck and danced him through Willie Street to Okumagba Avenue.
The suspect’s head was bruised, just as they inflicted serious bodily injuries on him while attempting to set him ablaze, before a team of Mobile Policemen came to his rescue.
The officers took him to the Police “B” Division with a promise that the suspect would confess his gang members.
However, the mob, which had become restive, expressed disappointment over the presence of the policemen, and regretted the delay in setting the suspect ablaze to serve as a deterrent to others.
At the time of filing this report, the suspect had been whisked away by the police. [Vanguard)
