Three soldiers have been killed and 2 others wounded as troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH engaged bandits in Tashan Kare, of Niger State.
In a statement on Monday, Coordinator Defence Media operations Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche, said following credible intelligence on the activities of bandits attack in the area, the gallant troops swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the bandits with superior fire power killing unspecified number while others fled in disarray into the bushes.
He said the troops suffered three casualties while two others were wounded in action.
Enenche said added that exploitation was ongoing in the area.
He said the Military High Command congratulated the gallant troops on their professionalism and eencouraged them to intensify the onslaught against the enemies of the country.
