A 21-year-old police officer, Peace Banshuam Otu, was abducted in the Obuluku area of Delta State on May 10, 2026, and her captors are demanding a ₦20 million ransom.

Otu, recently recruited into the Nigeria Police Force and posted to Delta State, was reportedly taken around 7:00 p.m. while riding on a motorcycle operated by Kenneth Chijioke. Chijioke escaped and raised the alarm, according to family sources.

As of May 12, the family said Otu was being held in a forest along Obuluku road and had spoken briefly with them.

Her sister, Anah Susan Ada-Otu, said the family was struggling to cope. “Very devastating, heartbreaking, and frustrating.. It’s just too much for the family, and for me in particular. Combining this with postpartum has not been easy at all,” she said.

Otu is from Baffin Village in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State. Her family said her father is deceased and her mother is battling a stroke-related illness, leaving them unable to pay the ransom.

The family has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, and security agencies to intervene for her safe release.
