The senatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Patigi Local Government Area have resolved to uphold the existing zoning arrangement in Kwara North and present a united front for the 2027 elections.
The resolution followed a strategic consultative meeting held with Dr Umar Bologi II, the Etsu Patigi and Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Council of Chiefs.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the aspirants said zoning remained the foundation for peace, equity, and political stability in Kwara North.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Hon. Mohammed Musa; Alhaji Adamu Manko; Dr. Mahmud Mohammed; Dr. Babajiya Kolo and Malam Mohammed Abubakar.
“We unequivocally state that the existing zoning arrangement within Kwara North must be respected to ensure continued peace, equity, and political stability in our district.
“Zoning remains the bedrock of our collective progress,” the group stated.
The aspirants also pledged full support for whoever emerges as the party’s senatorial candidate from Patigi LGA, stressing that party unity would take precedence over individual ambition.

“We have resolved that whoever emerges as the party senatorial candidate from Patigi LGA will receive the full and unconditional support of all other aspirants.
“We remain brothers first; no political contest will be allowed to undermine the long-standing bonds we share,” they said.
The group further appealed to the incumbent senator representing Kwara North, Sadiq Suleiman Umar, to respect the zoning rotation.
They noted that the arrangement facilitated his emergence in 2019, while referencing his publication titled: “How I Became a Senator in 30 Days,” as acknowledgment of the zoning agreement.
“In Patigi LGA, we are known for our loyalty and political integrity.
“This was demonstrated during the 2023 elections when, despite having two prominent sons of Patigi on the ballot, we delivered bloc votes to Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar from Kaiama LGA to enable him complete his second term,” the communiqué read.
The aspirants called on APC leadership and Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to intervene to preserve the peaceful political atmosphere in Kwara North by upholding existing zoning agreements.
They also reaffirmed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reiterated their commitment to producing a Kwara North candidate for the Kwara governorship seat.
