“Mistakes may have been made” — Governor admits govt, NASS, Assembly errors at 3rd anniversary Thanksgiving
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has publicly begged residents for forgiveness over the shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers, as he drums up support for APC ahead of 2027.
The appeal came Sunday during a “Democracy Thanksgiving Service” at Government House Chapel, Abakaliki, marking 3 years of his administration.
Addressing worshippers, government officials, political stakeholders and religious leaders, Nwifuru acknowledged that “mistakes may have been made” by his government, members of the National Assembly, and the Ebonyi State House of Assembly while serving the people.
Despite the admission, he urged Ebonyi people to remain supportive of their elected representatives and to renew their mandate for APC in the 2027 general elections.
The Thanksgiving service doubled as a political reset. By asking forgiveness first, Nwifuru is trying to disarm criticism of his 3-year record before campaign season heats up.
For APC in Ebonyi, the governor’s plea signals the party’s 2027 strategy: own up to failures, then ask voters for a second chance. Whether residents accept the apology will shape Ebonyi’s electoral math.
