Discover more political politics Politics In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party argued that current conditions across the country have weakened confidence in the administration’s policies. The ADC also criticised remarks credited to Tinubu following its April 14 national convention, where he reportedly dismissed opposition figures and described their gathering in unflattering terms. The party said such comments reflected a leadership disconnected from the realities facing citizens. According to the ADC, Nigerians are grappling with high living costs, food inflation, rising debt, and declining purchasing power, alongside persistent security concerns. It argued that these challenges should be the government’s priority rather than political exchanges with opposition groups. The party further rejected claims about the nature of its convention, insisting it was not held in an inappropriate setting and alleging that the administration has limited opposition access to public venues. It also raised concerns about the state of democratic institutions, accusing the government of undermining the principle of separation of powers and weakening oversight structures. On the political front, the ADC alleged inconsistency in the President’s stance toward the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, suggesting recent moves to court his supporters contradict earlier criticisms. The party maintained that worsening economic conditions and insecurity could shape voter sentiment ahead of the next general elections, adding that it is working to position itself as a credible alternative focused on governance, stability, and economic recovery.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plotting to compromise the 2026 governorship election in Osun State through irregular voter registration.

In a statement on Friday, Abosede Oluwaseun, Publicity Secretary of the ADC’s Omoluabi Progressives caucus, alleged that the APC was enrolling non-residents from Oyo, Ondo, and Lagos into the Osun voters’ register with the help of compromised officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He further claimed that APC operatives were transferring voter cards belonging to their supporters in other states to Osun, describing the scheme as “a sophisticated attempt at rigging and an assault on the people’s will.”

Oluwaseun questioned INEC’s report of 393,269 new registrations within eight days in Osun, calling the figure suspicious and reflective of the APC’s alleged “win at all costs” agenda.

He linked the development to the ruling party’s “anti-people policies” under President Bola Tinubu, accusing it of worsening poverty, insecurity, and hardship nationwide.

The ADC urged Osun residents to resist manipulation and safeguard their votes ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship poll.

“Osun must not become a testing ground for electoral fraud,” the party warned.

But Osun REC, Mutiu Agboke, dismissed the allegations, insisting that the voter registration exercise was transparent and conducted strictly within INEC’s guidelines.
