• Extends heartfelt wishes to Christian community on Easter celebrations
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended heartfelt wishes to the Christian community on the occasion of Easter celebrations and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the safety and security of all citizens and visitors during this period.
In alignment with this commitment, the IGP has mandated continuous vigilance and protection of public spaces nationwide.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP had instructed all State Commissioners of Police (CPs) and their supervising Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to deploy police personnel and operational assets in areas prone to security threats within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AoRs).
Adejobi emphasized that intensive and proactive visibility patrols would be conducted at worship centers, train stations, highways, motor parks, airports, waterways, recreation centers, banks, financial institutions, and other critical infrastructure and public spaces.
The IGP also assured travelers visiting their hometowns and other destinations within the country of adequate security, regardless of their mode of transportation—be it road, air, waterways, or rail.
Deployments have been bolstered, and visibility patrols intensified in all areas, including aerial surveillance.
The Nigeria Police Force underscored the significance of professional conduct among deployed officers.
While ensuring courtesy toward law-abiding citizens, he said officers would maintain firmness and decisiveness against criminal elements attempting to exploit the festive period for unlawful activities.
IGP Adeolu Egbetokun extended felicitations to Nigerians, particularly the Christian community, on the occasion of Easter celebrations.
He expressed appreciation to citizens for their support and urges continuous cooperation with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies by providing timely and actionable information to prevent and detect crime.
“As we commemorate the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us unite in vigilance to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in serving and protecting the public, and we urge everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station/Post,” he stated.
