Senate Minority Leader Enyinnaya Abaribe and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara have backed the presidential aspiration of one-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Pius Anyum.

Abaribe, who represents Abia South District in the Senate, spoke in his Obingwa country home and pledged maximum support for Anyim.

He noted that the former Senate President had all it takes to positively transform the country.

Speaking at a reception and conferment of the chieftaincy title of “Maduforo Nde Ngwa” on him, he said: “My brother is the only one that has declared his intention to run for the office of the president, I will give him all the support because he has all it takes to make Nigeria better again, therefore, I encourage all Nigerians to support this noble intention.”

Wabara, who chaired the occasion, described the Southeast as a good market for presidential material in the person and personality of Anyim, who was a Senate President.

He noted that Senator Anyim deserved the support of all Nigerians considering his track records.

Last month, Anyim signified interest to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

He has since embarked on consultation with stakeholders in his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria at large.

Some of those visited are: former presidents Goodluck Jonathan; Olusegun Obasanjo; former military heads of state Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar and Ibrahim Babangida as well as monarchs and leaders of thoughts.
