The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, suffered another gaffe during his campaign in Kogi State, when he urged party members to get their Permanent Voter Cards and be ready to vote APC.Atiku and a host of PDP stalwarts on Saturday, January 14, 2023, had stormed the Kogi Confluence Stadium to woo the people and get their support for the February 25 presidential election. The rally held at the Kogi Confluence Stadium was the first campaign Atiku would hold since he returned to Nigeria after about two weeks outside the country. The former Vice President returned to Nigeria on Friday, 13th January. However, while addressing the crowd of supporters who had thronged the stadium in Kogi, Atiku mistakenly said party members and supporters should vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), but had to quickly correct himself. It was the second time in barely a month that the presidential candidate would suffer a gaffe.Atiku at a rally that was held at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, the Plateau capital, On Tuesday, December 14, 2022, while concluding his speech in Hausa, said: “For God’s sake and for the value of this place, ensure that you vote for A… I mean PDP this time round.”The PDP presidential candidate’s gaffe came weeks after a similar incident involving Bola Tinubu of the APC, which also occurred at the same stadium. While addressing supporters at the Plateau rally, Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, had said “God bless PD… APC”.
