A 20-year-old man, Musa Mohammed, who allegedly demanded N500,000 with threat of menace from one Adamu Yisa, was on Thursday, araigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.
Mohammed, whose address was not provided, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.of extortion preferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence sometimes in January at Nikko Farm settlement, Iseyin/Ibadan road.
Adedeji alleged that the defendant unlawfully demanded N500, 000 from one Alhaji Adamu Yisa and threatened to kidnap him and his household, if he failed to give him the amount demanded.
The Prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 406 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Adeola, subsequently, adjourned the case until May 21, for hearing. (NAN)
